Live wallpapers are what distinguishes an Android from the iPhone. With the phone screens that are now baked with more pixels and colors than ever, now is the best time to use live wallpapers to live the lively screen your phone has. While live wallpapers on Android may not be a technical marvel, here is how to set one on your Android.

Getting live wallpaper

You must know that to set a live wallpaper, you will first need to download a live wallpaper app. You can try apps like Maxelus.net, or track down. Other user favorites are Cartogram, this live wallpaper app is known to stylize a map of your local area into a dynamic theme; or Hypno Clock Live Wallpaper, this app shows the time in a beautiful abstraction. Big live wallpaper catalog apps like Live Wallpapers 4K or Live Wallpapers are also very pleasing to look at. Their only downside is that you will have to keep filtering through some ads before getting the live wallpaper you want.

The process to set the wallpaper once you have downloaded the live wallpaper of choice is as easy as it can be. All you have to do is go to Settings, tap on the Display section, then scroll down to find the Advanced option. On the page that appears, tap on Wallpaper followed by Live Wallpapers. Here all the live wallpapers that you have downloaded will be displayed. Simply tap the one you wish to use, and tap “Set wallpaper.”

How to Make a Video a Live Wallpaper

The live wallpapers which are readily available for you to download and set are all nice and good, but what if you are one of those creative people who like to see their work every time they open their phone? What we meant here is that what if you want to use one of your videos as a live wallpaper.

Luckily, some phones do allow you to turn your videos into live wallpapers. If you own a Samsung S series phone, then go to Gallery, choose the video file you wish to use as your live wallpaper, and then tap the menu icon at the top-right followed by “Set as wallpaper.” Then you will be directed to a page where you can trim the video loop using the “Edit” button.

In case you are using a Xiaomi phone, then you can set your video as wallpapers by going to the “Themes app -> My Page -> Wallpapers -> My Live Wallpapers,” and click on the “+” icon. Here you can choose the videos you wish to turn into a live wallpaper.

On other devices, the only way to set a video as a live wallpaper is by downloading a third-party app. You can try the Video Live Wallpaper app. After installing the app, all you have to do is open it, add the video you want to use as wallpaper, and then change the length of the clip, audio, and other edits that you want. You can also choose between vertically or horizontally oriented videos by selecting “Scale Fit,’ or “Scale Fit with Crop” respectively. After editing the video as you like, tap on the square icon at the top-right corner, followed by “Set wallpaper” to make it your background.

We hope that you are now a master of setting live wallpapers on an Android device.
