A few years ago, no one would have thought that one can make a successful career out of YouTube. You wouldn’t have known that you can earn actual dollar bills out of this platform. And now, we have so many successful YouTube creators around the world who could change their lifestyle out of it. YouTube has over 2 billion active users per month, and almost 80% of people stream YouTube content. The popularity of YouTube creators is earning them some revenue through brand promotions as well.

If you are also looking forward to becoming a YouTuber or you want to grow your business, YouTube is a great platform to start your success journey. During the initial days, your channel might not reach a lot of people. If you are a brand trying to gain more customers, people will try to check reviews before purchasing your products. Even if you are a content creator, people would always check your description box or comments to see your content value. Before getting into all the tricks, you must understand the basics precisely. To help you fight the overwhelming feeling, we have broken down the tips in few easy steps below:
Set Up Your YouTube Account
Head over to the YouTube page, and from the upper-righthand corner, click on Sign In. If you have an existing Google account, you can proceed to use a similar email and password to sign in to YouTube, or you can create a new page by selecting ‘Create an Account.’
Now, you’ll get an option to create a personal branding account or to manage your business. It is better to start a brand account, especially if you want to use your channel for promoting your business. The YouTube users are most likely to share Personal Account’s videos with family and friends and ditch the channels whose only motive is to grow their reach and subscribers for their business. After creating a personal account, you can later switch it into a brand account.
It would be best to consider using a brand account as you can name it after your business, whereas a personal account should have the label of your first or last name. On a brand account, you can add different brand names on top of your username and add colleagues to your account for managing the channel, without giving them access to your personal account. You can also grant different permissions to the users.
Create a Channel
Start by logging into your account, and from the upper right-hand corner, select Create a Channel > Get Started. You can tweak and customize the channel name and profile photo of your Google account. It is recommended to use your branded account for creating a custom name for your channel. You can add the title after your business or customize something that gives the viewers an idea of your brand and content. Then, click on the box for “I understand” and select Create.
Then, you can upload a new profile photo. If you are creating a business channel, use this section to upload the logo representing your brand or a picture of yourself.
Now, visit the YouTube About page to add a brief note about the content you publish on your channel. Ensure that you use some essential keywords related to your work to inform the viewers about the content they’ll find on your channel. You can include links to your social media handles in this section. Once you are satisfied with the changes, click on Save.
Channel Verification
Before uploading anything on your channel, you should verify your YouTube channel. To do so, visit the Settings page and click on Channel Status and Features. From the new page, you can check the eligibility and permissions enabled or disabled for your channel. Every feature and permission has a significant role to play. After verifying your channel, you can create custom thumbnails and exceed the maximum time limits for creating videos.
To verify your channel, click on Verify and then choose your country and insert your phone number to receive a verification code. Use the 6-digit verification code to verify your channel successfully. Now, you can unlock many benefits and create a professional YouTube channel.
Additional Settings
You should add some keywords so that viewers can know the type of content you create. You can easily add keywords by selecting the Creator’s Studio below your profile photo. Now, go to Settings and click on your Channel. It will help YouTube understand the type of content you create and show it to the targeted audience. Separate your keywords with commas, and use Optimized Channel keywords to increase your visibility.
From the same Settings section, you’ll find Advanced Settings that will let you add more information about your channel. From here, you can add a watermark or logo to your videos for creating brand awareness and recognition. You can also tweak the display time of your watermark.
Now that you have learned the basics, you can start uploading your videos or do Live streaming for interacting with the audience. You have to be consistent with your content to get recognized as a content creator or taking your brand to greater heights.
